Burn Detection

 Although small superficial burns do not affect the seam strength on the beam entrance side of the upper joining partner significantly, they might be unacceptable for functional or aesthetical reasons. Such superficial burns could be caused by dirt on the surface of the upper joining partner or particle inclusions beneath it.
With the combustion detection, LPKF Laser & Electronics AG, Plastics Welding Division offers a further system module for quality assurance. It enables reliable detections of those superficial burns enabling the discharge of an affected workpiece. The maximum size of the burn that would lead to a classification as scrap work is user-definable. The module is able to detect burns which are hardly noticeable with the eyes.
