Temperature Monitoring

Pyrometry offers the possibility to monitor the welding process on-line and locally. It observes the temperature in the welding zone without contact by detecting the thermal spectrum of radiation emerging from the process. The measured temperature enables the judgment of the overall processing conditions and to spot a lack of cohesive in the junction due to the overheating of the joining partners, at the corresponding position. As polymers in general provide a weak transmission of thermal radiation generated by the processing temperatures, the use of this monitoring method strongly depends on the chosen material and the thickness of the upper joining partner.
